Help! The Avian Vet doesn't know what is causing this!

by Nicole

I received my canary as a gift around Christmas time. Apparently one of his feet and legs was swollen when my son purchased him. I brought him to the avian hospital and neither vet has ever seen anything like it. They punctured it and got blood out not pus. They also gave him a steroid shot in the stomach. Nothing has helped so far & it has only gotten bigger. Any idea what this is? And how to treat it?

It's difficult to see the photo but perhaps this is gout or bumblefoot?
