I THINK MY CANARY HAS HAD A STROKE OR CONVULSION

by KEN
(UK)

HI - MY NAME IS KEN AND I HAVE A VERY SICK CANARY.
HE SEEMS TO HAVE SUFFERED A CONVULSION WHICH IS
CAUSING HIM TO STARGAZE & ROLL AND GO ROUND IN CIRCLES.
HE HASN'T HAD ANY FOOD FOR THREE DAYS AND I HAVE
BEEN DRIP FEEDING HIM WITH GLUCOSE AND WATER. HE
IS STILL VERY STRONG AND CAN FLY STRAIGHT BUT HE
CAN'T PERCH OR WALK IN A STRAIGHT LINE. WE HAVE
NO AVIAN VETS WITHIN HUNDREDS OF MILES AND I AM
WORRIED THE VET I USE FOR MY DOG WILL WANT TO PUT
HIM TO SLEEP. I WANT TO GIVE HIM A FIGHTING CHANCE
BUT I HAVE NOT LEFT HIM ALONE FOR 2 DAYS AND NIGHTS
AND THE ONLY WAY HE IS COMFORTABLE IS IN MT CUPPED
HAND. HE IS QUITE HAPPY FOR ME TO HOLD HIM BUT
NORMALLY HE WOULDN'T TOLERATE IT. I AM SO WEARY AS
I HAVEN'T REALLY SLEPT FOR TWO NIGHTS. PLEASE CAN
YOU TELL ME WHAT TO DO AND ALSO, IF I HAVE TO HAVE HIM PUT
TO SLEEP, HOW WILL THE VET DO THIS. MANY THANKS. KEN

I think that my canary has had a stroke
by: Hanna

I think that my canary (about 6 years old) has had a stroke. He suddenly began falling from his perch. It has now been about a month and I have him in a small cage with food and water. He sings and is happy but when he tries to walk he staggers and falls and can not stand on a perch. I often find him on his back an then turn him over. Is there any way that I can help him to regain his balance? Also, his tail and wing feathers fell out. Thank you.

Canary Care Sites
by: Johnson

Passing my time, I was reading about canary care and I came across this site which I found it good.

It looked interesting and I decided to scrutinize all the content.. It was absolutely worth it and I liked it loads.

Thanks :-)
